THE RACE IS ON

The CSCS Lions boys and girls cross country teams are officially off and running for the 2026 season.

The Lions opened the year at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede Pre State Meet at the Norris Penrose Event Center on August 21 and 22. The event brought together nearly 100 teams and approximately 2,000 runners from across Colorado for one of the largest early season meets of the year.

Adding to the significance of the weekend, athletes competed on the same course scheduled to host the Colorado State Cross Country Championships later this fall. It was an early opportunity for our Lions to experience a championship level course, compete against a deep field and establish a starting point for the season ahead.

Cross country has a way of revealing what preparation looks like.

There are no shortcuts. Every early morning, every hill, every mile and every uncomfortable moment builds toward the opportunity to compete.

And the Lions are just getting started.
