CSCS Lions Make a Statement with Historic Victory Over Limon, Head Into Homecoming 7-0
Seven games. Seven victories. One incredible season in the making.
The Colorado Springs Christian Schools Lions are turning heads across Colorado, and after Saturday’s thrilling 21-14 victory over the previously undefeated Limon Badgers, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: these Lions are here to compete.
On October 10, CSCS traveled to Limon for one of its biggest challenges of the season. The Badgers entered the matchup undefeated at 6-0, carrying a reputation as one of Colorado’s premier Class 1A football programs. It was Limon’s Homecoming, the stands were filled with hometown supporters, and the Lions were stepping into an environment where a victory would have to be earned.
And earn it they did.
When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard told the story: CSCS 21. Limon 14.
The Lions had handed Limon its first loss of the season, holding a high-powered Badgers offense to its lowest point total of the year.
What a game. What a victory. What a team.
A Victory That Demanded Attention
This wasn’t just another win on the schedule.
Limon entered the contest ranked No. 8 statewide across all classifications in the October 7 High School On SI rankings. The Badgers had scored 54 points in each of their previous three games, including a 54-20 victory over Salida the week before facing CSCS.
But the Lions weren’t intimidated by the rankings, the reputation, or the atmosphere.
They came prepared to compete.
For four quarters, CSCS demonstrated the resilience, discipline, and determination that have defined this remarkable season. Against an opponent accustomed to putting up big numbers, the Lions delivered when it mattered most.
The victory also reshaped the Class 1A picture. In MaxPreps’ updated rankings, Colorado Springs Christian now holds the No. 1 position in Colorado Class 1A, with Limon sitting at No. 2. The Lions also lead the 1A South Central League with a perfect 4-0 conference record.
For a program that continues to build its legacy, moments like these matter.
But perhaps what’s most exciting isn’t simply where the Lions stand today. It’s what they’re becoming along the way.
More Than an Undefeated Record
Every team wants to win. Every athlete dreams of the big moments, the packed stadiums, and the victories people remember for years.
But something even more significant is happening within this CSCS football program.
These young men are learning what it takes to lead.
They’re learning to prepare when no one is watching, to trust the teammates standing beside them, to respond when circumstances become difficult, and to keep fighting when the outcome is uncertain.
The season hasn’t been without challenges. Three of the Lions’ seven victories have come by seven points or fewer, including hard-fought road wins over Woodland Park, Rye, and now Limon.
Time and again, this team has been tested.
And time and again, they’ve found a way.
That’s what makes this season so special. The Lions aren’t simply learning how to win football games. They’re developing the character, perseverance, accountability, and leadership that will serve them long after their playing days are over.
At CSCS, we believe excellence in athletics is about more than what happens on the scoreboard. It’s about the young men our athletes are becoming and the way they represent their teammates, families, school, and faith.
This team is giving us plenty of reasons to celebrate both.
Seven Games Down. The Work Is Far From Finished.
Through seven games, the Lions have outscored their opponents 251-70, combining explosive offensive performances with impressive defensive efforts.
Their season includes a 49-14 victory over Holyoke, a 49-0 shutout of Ellicott, consecutive 45-6 wins over Byers and Bennett, and now their statement victory over Limon.

Yet ask anyone who understands what makes a championship-caliber team, and they’ll tell you that success creates its own challenges.
Every opponent wants to be the team that ends the streak. Every week brings new expectations. Every victory raises the stakes.
And the Lions know their work isn’t finished.
There are still practices to prepare for, opponents to study, mistakes to correct, and opportunities to improve. The discipline that brought this team to 7-0 will be just as important in the weeks ahead.
We’re celebrating what these young men have accomplished. They’ve earned that recognition.
But we’re even more excited to see how they respond to what comes next.
Homecoming Under the Friday Night Lights
Friday, October 16, 2026
7:00 PM kickoff
Ragain Field | CSCS vs. Salida
This Friday, the Lions return home for one of the most anticipated nights of the year.
Homecoming.
With a perfect record, a major road victory behind them, and excitement building throughout the CSCS school community, we’re anticipating one of our biggest Homecoming crowds yet.
Students, parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and generations of Lions will come together to celebrate what makes this school community so special.
The energy will be high. The stands will be packed. And the expectations will be greater than ever.
But the Lions still have a football game to play.
Salida comes to Ragain Field on Friday, October 16, at 7:00 PM, giving CSCS another opportunity to defend its undefeated record and continue its pursuit of an exceptional season.
Homecoming brings excitement, distractions, and added pressure. October football brings colder temperatures and increasingly meaningful games.
None of it makes the road easier.
But if the first seven games have taught us anything, it’s that this team is willing to rise to the challenge.
One School. One Community. One Pride.
To our players: We see your commitment, your sacrifice, and the work you’re putting in. We’re proud of the way you’re competing, but even more proud of the young men you’re becoming.
To our coaches: Thank you for investing in these athletes, challenging them to grow, and building a program that values character as much as competition.
To our families and supporters: Thank you for showing up, traveling the miles, filling the stands, and standing behind these Lions through every moment.
And to our alumni: It’s Homecoming. Come home.
Bring your families. Reconnect with old friends. Wear your navy and gold. Come experience the excitement surrounding this team and help us create an atmosphere our student-athletes will never forget.
There is something special happening at Colorado Springs Christian Schools.
You can see it in the way these young men compete. You can feel it in the excitement of our school community. And you can recognize it in a team that continues to rise, week after week.
We’re grateful for the journey so far, but we know the greatest opportunities are still ahead.
Seven games. Seven wins. And a whole lot left to prove.
We believe in these Lions. We believe in this team. And we can’t wait to see what happens next.
We’ll see you Friday night at Ragain Field.
GO LIONS!
