A Historic Night for CSCS Football: Lions Open the Season with a Dominant Win at a New Field
Friday night was more than a season opener for Colorado Springs Christian School Football. It was a night that will forever hold a place in CSCS history.
For the first time, a CSCS football team took the field on a home field bearing the school’s name.
Welcome home, Lions. Welcome to Ragain Field.
On August 28, the Boys Varsity Football team officially opened its 2026 season against the Holyoke Dragons, surrounded by a home crowd ready to celebrate a new chapter for CSCS Athletics. And once the game began, the Lions gave them plenty to celebrate.
CSCS defeated Holyoke 49 to 14, moving to 1 and 0 on the season. The Lions established control early and carried a commanding 35 to 7 lead into halftime before finishing the night with 49 points.
Senior quarterback Fisher Tenpas helped lead the offensive attack, throwing for 309 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 11.9 yards per attempt. Fellow senior Silas Lambert recorded 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns, helping the Lions put together an explosive performance in their first game of the year.
But as impressive as the scoreboard was, this night was about something bigger.
A Place to Call Home
For years, CSCS football teams have competed, grown, and represented our school on fields throughout Colorado Springs and beyond. Generations of Lions have worn CSCS across their jerseys without ever having a football field they could truly call their own.
Friday night, that changed.
When our players ran onto Ragain Field, they became the first football team in CSCS history to compete on a field bearing the CSCS name.
That moment represents far more than a new location for Friday night football. It represents the continued growth of a program and a community that has been built through years of commitment from student athletes, coaches, families, alumni, supporters, and those who have invested in the future of CSCS Athletics.
Now, future generations of Lions will have a place to compete under the lights and call home.
And the first chapter written there ended with a 49 to 14 Lions victory.
Starting the Season Strong
The home opener also gave the Lions an opportunity to set the tone for the season ahead.
CSCS controlled the game from the opening half and never surrendered that momentum. The performance gave the Lions their first victory of the 2026 season and showcased a team ready to compete with confidence.
It was a memorable beginning, but it was exactly that: a beginning.
There is plenty of football still ahead and plenty of work still to be done. The Lions now turn their attention to their first road test of the season against Woodland Park.
For one night, though, our community had the opportunity to celebrate something generations of CSCS football players never had before.
A true home field.
A packed sideline.
Lions under the lights.
And a team making history.
Ragain Field is officially home.
