Two commanding victories, a hard-fought draw, and a season of growth have the CSCS Lions looking ahead with confidence as they approach the final stretch of their first season in Class 3A.
The Colorado Springs Christian Schools boys soccer team continues to prove that growth doesn’t always happen in a straight line. Sometimes it comes through difficult losses, demanding competition, and the determination to keep showing up and competing.
For the Lions, the 2026 season has been exactly that.
After making the jump from Class 2A to Class 3A, CSCS entered the season knowing the road ahead would present new challenges. Stronger opponents, increased expectations, and smaller margins for error have tested this team throughout the fall.
But as the regular season approaches its conclusion, the Lions are beginning to see the results of their hard work.
With a 6-5-2 record, CSCS has demonstrated its ability to compete, respond to adversity, and put together impressive performances against quality opponents.
Back-to-Back Victories Spark Momentum
The Lions have delivered some of their most convincing performances of the season in October.
On October 5, CSCS put together an outstanding offensive performance, defeating the Pikes Peak Christian/Evangel Christian co-op team 10-0. The commanding victory showcased the Lions’ attacking ability and provided an opportunity for the team to build confidence heading into the final weeks of competition.
Just three days later, CSCS traveled to face Banning Lewis Academy and delivered another impressive result.
After a competitive first half, the Lions took control of the match and secured a 3-0 shutout victory over the Stallions.
The two victories gave CSCS 13 goals scored and zero goals allowed across consecutive matches, an encouraging demonstration of the team’s ability to execute on both ends of the field.
Perhaps most importantly, those performances reflected a team continuing to develop its identity.
From improved communication to greater confidence in possession and a commitment to playing together, the Lions are discovering what it takes to compete successfully at the 3A level.
Battling One of the Season’s Toughest Opponents
On Monday, October 12, CSCS faced another significant challenge against Thomas MacLaren School, a team that entered the matchup with an impressive record.
The Lions rose to the occasion.
In a tightly contested match, CSCS battled Thomas MacLaren to a 1-1 draw, earning a result against a team that now stands at 8-1-3.
While the Lions would have loved to come away with a victory, the performance offered another encouraging indication of how far this group has come.
Earlier in the season, the Lions were learning how to adjust to the pace and physical demands of 3A competition. Now, they are demonstrating an ability to compete against strong opponents and stay in matches where every possession matters.
These are the moments that build programs.
The experience of competing against talented teams, making adjustments, and learning how to respond under pressure will continue to shape these young men long after the season ends.
A Season That Is Building More Than Soccer Players
One of the most meaningful parts of this season has been watching the Lions grow together.
The challenges of moving into a new classification have required every player to take greater responsibility, trust his teammates, and continue developing as both an athlete and a young man.
Our four seniors, Judah Rogers, Antonio Ordaz, Carson Dorminey, and Barclay Stuart, have helped lead this team through a significant transition.
Their leadership, along with the dedication of the entire roster and coaching staff, is helping establish a foundation for the future of CSCS Soccer.
At CSCS, we believe athletics provides an incredible opportunity to develop character, leadership, perseverance, and faith.
Winning matters. Competing with excellence matters. But so does learning how to respond when the scoreboard doesn’t go your way, how to encourage a teammate through a difficult moment, and how to represent Jesus Christ through every opportunity to compete.
This team has had plenty of opportunities to learn those lessons this season, and we are proud of the way they continue to rise to the challenge.
One More Regular Season Test Ahead
The Lions now turn their attention to their final scheduled regular season matchup against Atlas Preparatory School on Thursday, October 15, at 4:00 PM.
With postseason opportunities approaching, every match provides another chance to sharpen their execution, build confidence, and continue demonstrating the progress they have made throughout the season.
The work isn’t finished.
This group has experienced exciting victories, difficult defeats, and everything in between. But through it all, they have continued moving forward together.
To our players, coaches, and families, thank you for the countless hours, sacrifices, and commitment you have poured into this season.
We are proud of these Lions, not simply because of the victories they have earned, but because of the young men they are becoming through the process.
The season isn’t over, and there is still more to accomplish.
Keep fighting. Keep growing. Keep competing.
Let’s go, Lions!
