From rivalry victories to hard-fought conference battles, the Lions are proving that success is about more than the scoreboard as they push through the heart of their 2026 season.

The 2026 girls volleyball season has been a journey of determination, growth, and resilience for the Colorado Springs Christian Schools Lions. Through exciting victories, challenging opponents, and moments that have tested their resolve, these young women continue to demonstrate what it means to compete with purpose and represent CSCS with pride.

With the final stretch of the regular season approaching, the Lions have plenty to celebrate, plenty to build upon, and plenty still to accomplish.

Building Momentum When It Matters

One of the defining moments of the Lions’ season came in September, when CSCS delivered an unforgettable program-wide performance against longtime rival St. Mary’s.

All five CSCS volleyball teams, from varsity through middle school, earned victories over the Pirates. The varsity team battled through five competitive sets to secure a thrilling 3–2 win, demonstrating the determination and composure that have become essential to their season.

That victory was more than a single win. It was a reminder of the strength of the entire CSCS volleyball program and the exciting future being built at every level.

The varsity Lions carried that momentum into the following weeks, putting together an impressive three-match winning streak.

They swept James Irwin 3–0 on September 24, followed by another commanding 3–0 victory over Atlas Preparatory School on September 28. The very next day, CSCS defeated Fountain Valley 3–1, earning three consecutive victories and demonstrating their ability to compete successfully in conference play.

Those wins reflected a team finding its rhythm, trusting one another, and putting in the work necessary to turn opportunities into results.

Facing the Challenges Together

As the Lions entered October, the competition continued to intensify.

CSCS faced Banning Lewis Academy on October 1 and The Vanguard School on October 6, falling 3–1 in both contests. But those final scores do not tell the entire story.

Against Vanguard, the Lions battled throughout the match, scoring at least 17 points in every set and taking the third set 25–18. Even in defeat, the team showed its ability to respond, compete, and challenge its opponent.

These are the moments that shape a team.

Winning is exciting, but learning to respond when the match isn’t going your way is equally important. It requires communication, discipline, confidence, and the willingness to keep fighting for the next point.

For our Lions, those lessons extend well beyond the volleyball court. They are learning how to lead, encourage one another, handle adversity, and compete with character.

And that is something worth celebrating.

The Lions’ October 8 matchup against a strong Salida team brought another tough challenge. CSCS fell in three sets, but the match included several individual contributions worth recognizing. Senior Capri Simpson recorded five kills, Jayne Glojek contributed 11 assists, Lily Hergenreter delivered three service aces, and Breckyn Gooden anchored the defense with 16 digs.

The result brought the Lions to 7–11 overall, but the experience of competing against strong opponents provides valuable preparation for the final weeks of the season.

Lions Making Their Mark

Throughout the season, several CSCS athletes have made significant contributions on the court.

Senior Jayne Glojek has helped lead the Lions’ offense, recording 269 assists and 46 service aces in the season statistics available through early October. Fellow senior Breckyn Gooden has been a consistent defensive presence, averaging 3.9 digs per set.

Senior Capri Simpson has contributed offensively, while sophomore Eliana Flick has made an impact at the net with 29 total blocks. Lily Hergenreter has also played an important role, contributing both as a setter and from the service line.

Behind every statistic is an athlete who has spent countless hours practicing, improving, and learning to compete alongside her teammates.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Tatum Cooke and the coaching staff, the Lions continue to develop their skills while building the relationships and character that make high school athletics so meaningful.

More Than a Season. A Foundation for the Future.

At CSCS, we believe athletics provides an incredible opportunity to develop young people into confident, capable, Christ-centered leaders.

This season, our girls volleyball athletes are experiencing firsthand what it means to work toward a common goal, persevere through adversity, and represent something bigger than themselves.

We are proud of these young women. Proud of the victories they have earned, the challenges they have faced, and the commitment they continue to demonstrate.

We are also incredibly grateful for our coaches, families, and school community who continue to invest in these athletes and support them throughout the season.

As the Lions enter the final weeks of regular-season competition, we encourage our CSCS community to show up, fill the stands, and cheer them on.

The season isn’t finished, and neither are these Lions.

Let’s finish strong, CSCS!

GO LIONS!
